About the role
BURN is looking for a Quality Control Lead who will be responsible for driving quality excellence in the assembly and local sourcing processes for electric cookers, cookware & other Burn Manufacturing stoves.

The role ensures product compliance with specifications, adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), process controls, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.

The Quality Control Lead will supervise casual inspectors, collaborate with the Quality Engineering team, and liaise with local suppliers to ensure incoming and finished products meet the organisation’s quality requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Production Quality Control & Testing
    • Measure and analyse quality parameters along the assembly line, including Incoming quality control (IQC) of raw materials, finished products, and kit assemblies. In-process quality control (IPQC) to detect and resolve defects during assembly. Finished goods quality control (FQC) against relevant specifications
    • Check, inspect, and verify products in accordance with engineering specification sheets and regulatory standards.
    • Conduct quality and performance tests to validate product safety and functionality.
    • Record, maintain, and analyse quality data from the production floor and generate trend reports.
 
  • Quality Systems & Standard Operating Procedures
    • Ensure complete compliance with assembly floor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), visual work instructions, and inspection guidelines
    • Review and recommend improvements to SOPs and inspection methods
    • Work with quality engineers/analysts to support spec sheet creation, revisions, and continuous improvement based on manufacturing realities.
 
  • Team Leadership & Workforce Coordination
    • Hire, train, and assign tasks to a team of casual quality inspectors/technicians.
    • Conduct competency assessments, coaching, and continuous skills development for quality personnel.
    • Drive a culture of ownership and discipline on the production floor.
 
  • Production Compliance & Issue Escalation
    • Monitor and balance quality control with production volumes to ensure targeted throughput is achieved without compromising workmanship.
    • Escalate abnormalities to the Shift Team Leader and Quality Lead promptly.
    • Ensure rework processes are followed correctly, and defects are segregated and tracked with proper disposition (scrap, repair, return, quarantine).
 
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Write daily quality reports with defect summaries, action logs, and performance metrics.
    • Generate and share weekly and monthly reports, including: IQC/IPQC/FQC metrics, Defect Pareto analysis, Corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), First Pass Yield (FPY), Defect per Unit (DPU), and Rework Rate performance
    • Maintain proper documentation trail for traceability and audits
 
  • Supplier Quality Assurance (Local Sourcing Support)
    • Visit local supplier facilities to review manufacturing practices, capabilities, and compliance with company quality standards.
    • Audit supplier processes and request corrective actions where non-conformities exist
    • Facilitate communication and supplier feedback when delivered goods do not meet specifications.
    • Support qualification and continuous improvement of local suppliers.
 
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Enforce safety standards on the assembly floor and ensure use of correct PPE by workers
    • Identify safety non-conformities and work with the EHS team to mitigate risks.
    • Ensure compliant handling of defective electric components and hazardous waste.

Skills and Experience
  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
  • Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in quality control in a manufacturing/assembly setting.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, electronics assembly quality standards (IPC-A-610), and health & safety policies are an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing quality control and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical safety requirements, and specification sheets.
  • Proficiency in root-cause analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys, Pareto).
  • Ability to train and supervise technical groups.
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, and data-driven decision making.
