About the Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented, intellectually curious intern to join the Grants & Partnerships team. You will support the full grant lifecycle, from identifying funding opportunities to contributing to proposal development and donor reporting. A core expectation of this role is the ability to conduct rigorous research and synthesize information into clear, compelling written content that supports BURN's institutional fundraising efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support research on relevant data and statistics to strengthen grant proposals, under the guidance of the grants team.
  • Assist in identifying potential grant opportunities from local and international donors by reviewing funding databases and donor websites.
  • Maintain an updated list of grant opportunities and awards  including deadlines, eligibility criteria, and basic application requirements.
  • Assist in drafting sections of grant proposals, including background narratives and project descriptions, as directed by the supervisor.
  • Gather information and supporting data from relevant Company staff to contribute to proposal development.
  • Help compile and organize required documents and attachments for grant applications.
  • Maintain a submission checklist to track application progress and deadlines.
  • Support the preparation of donor progress reports by collating data and drafting initial content for review.
  • Utilize AI tools to improve grant related processes
  • Maintain organized records of submitted applications, correspondence, and outcomes.
  • Carry out any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Public Policy, Economics, Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to research and summarize information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); comfortable conducting online research using funding databases and donor websites.
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude) and willingness to use them to support research and drafting tasks.
  • Prior exposure to grant writing, fundraising, or the development/NGO sector is an advantage but not required.
  • Self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Exposure to clean energy, climate, or international development is a strong plus.
